Birds of Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary
Naples, Florida
In a previous post I gave a little story of the old growth Bald Cypress Tree forest that makes up a big part of this sanctuary. Within this sanctuary are many species of wading birds. Some of the species I saw were Great Egret, Tricolored Heron, Green Heron, immature White Ibis, adult White Ibis and I think an American Bittern? Maybe some of you bird experts out there can confirm. I tried to capture photos of them in their natural habitat as much as possible. Deciding on what lenses to bring on this trip was a bit of a question. I wanted to shoot both birds and landscapes which is not easy as they require different lenses. Also it was a quite a bit of a walk into the sanctuary. I opted for my 24-120 mm for landscapes and my smaller 100-400mm for the birds. Most of the birds were not too far from the raised boardwalk through the sanctuary so it worked out well overall.
